Welcome To
El pueblo nola - nola village
El Pueblo NOLA / NOLA Village is a community organization rooted in the Village de l'Est neighborhood of New Orleans East, founded by community organizer Cristiane Rosales-Fajardo and powered entirely by volunteers.
We serve New Orleans East with a focus on the Latinx community, through three interconnected pillars:
Education
We help parents of ESL students advocate for their children’s rights. We ensure families understand their options, secure appropriate school placements, and navigate unexpected barriers in the education system. When needed, we also guide parents in accessing high‑quality educational evaluations to ensure every child receives the support they deserve.
Civic/Community Engagement
We provide comprehensive direct mutual aid to families and individuals. We support animal needs through providing food, assisting with getting vet services including spay and neuter, and help find placement for domestic animals who do not have a home. We connect people with legal resources and offer Know Your Rights training.
Cultural Life
We celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of our community through programming. From the vibrant rhythms of Garifuna Days to the beloved Día de los Muertos parade, our events bring people together and keep culture alive.
Beyond providing services, we are committed to honoring the dignity, resilience, and culture of every person we serve.
Volunteer. Make an Impact.
“My hard-earned skill sets as a survivor of multiple traumas mean that I back up my words with lived experience, knowing that no matter where you are in the world, you deserve to have rights and services. I organize to flip the script and create a new dynamic for my community.”
